”that their hearts may be comforted, they being knit together in love, and gaining all riches of the full assurance of understanding, that they may know the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge hidden.” (Colossians 2:2-3)
“Be careful that you don’t let anyone rob you through his philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the elements of the world, and not after Christ. 9. For in him all the fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily.” (Colossians 2:9)
“God, having in the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2. has at the end of these days spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the worlds. 3. His Son is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself made purification for our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.” (Hebrews 1:1-3)
As a Christian it is very easy to forget and sometimes just get caught up in things that do not point to Christ. If God loves Jesus, and would command angels to worship him (Hebrews 1:6), then I believe there is something about Christ that we should not miss:
Some important observations I have made about what the Scripture tells us about Christ, and I would like to list three of them, that maybe God may breath into your devotional life, a new depth of the riches of the one Person whom he has revealed:
- God’s Final Revelation Is Christ, It Is His Greatest Revelation
Hebrews 1:1-2 tells us that in the last days he has spoken in His Son, which is a fulfillment of the law. Christ, as the very core of the gospel, is the pinnacle then of “such a great salvation” (Hebrews 2:3) because he is such a great Saviour! The Gospel’s weight is found in Christ himself.
- Christ is beautiful, and reflects God
Christ’s beauty cannot be overstated, because it is true in every sense of the word. Think about it, he is the image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15). He is the radiance of God’s glory! Think about it, the doctrine of the eternal Son, he has always existed, and been like the Father, because he shares the divine nature! Oh, Father, that you would show us the beauty of Christ!
- In Him is found all knowledge and wisdom
Colossians 2 tells us that within Christ is found all knowledge and wisdom. All the answers are in the Person of Christ, how much will this drive us to run to Christ? To whom shall we go? Christ Jesus has the answers, and in fact embodies all answers, because He is the Answer! The only and final answer God will ever have, he is the final revelation, oh God–show us Christ!
Let us be driven by the beauty of the one Person who gives life and satisfaction–Jesus Christ.
